Biography


Prof. IS Kim has received his PhD (2000) in Materials Engineering from the Nagoya University, Japan. After five years of his postdoctoral and research professor work (2000-2005), he joined at Shinshu University, Japan as an Assistant Professor in 2005, and he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007, Professor in 2018. He was awarded the Rising Star Professor in 2016. Currently, Prof. IS Kim is working as Professor at Shinshu University, Japan. He is one of the distinguished professors for Soochow University, China.

Prof. IS Kim has more than 250 publications in reputed journals, and over 100 international patents filled, and contributed 1 book and more than 20 book chapters. Apart from his research achievements, Prof. IS Kim is currently serving as an Associate Editor for RSC Advances, Editorial Board Member for Journal of Polymer Reviews (Taylor and Francis), The Society of Fiber Science and Technology-Japan, Journal of Nanomedicine, Research & Development in Material Science, Recent Progress in Materials and ISRN Materials Science.

Prof. IS Kim and Group conduct research in the broad areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology. In particular, his research focuses on design and synthesis of electrospun nanofibers and its nanocomposites for various applications such as biomedical, catalysis, textiles and energy. At present, he is actively working on the development of 2D and 3D-from of carbons from biomass for energy storage systems. Part of his work focused on the development of transition metals-based heterogeneous nanocatalysts for organic transformations. His research is also focused in the biomedical aspect; briefly, fabrication of inorganic and organic bioactive materials for drug delivery systems and bon regeneration.
